Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) has been offering our cooperative experiential learning since 2016. 192 post-secondary students from schools across Ontario have participated in the program.

In early 2022, 20 students, including seven returning, stepped into exciting and versatile roles within the organization. WDBA offers the opportunity for students to develop professional and technical skills that will further their careers post-graduation. Students also receive the chance to meet and interact with leaders from across all WDBA departments. Through learning about departmental responsibilities and hearing about others’ professional experiences students develop a deeper understanding of what the working world looks like.

“WBDA values all its employees and looks to create an atmosphere that is rewarding, practical and fun for its students,” says WDBA CEO Bryce Phillips.  “Passion drives our creativity and innovation and the passion of our nearly 200 former and current students have benefited the organization. We have learned just as much from them as they have learned from us.”

For the fourth consecutive year, WDBA’s co-op program has been recognized by the University of Windsor with the 2021 Co-op/Internship Employer of the Year award. The honour recognizes organizations who have a long-standing partnership with the post-secondary school’s co-op office and have created exceptional work term experiences.

This term, the Corporate Affairs and External Relations department has asked the students what makes them passionate and how these passions drive their creativity and innovation here at WDBA. The students have described their answers in the spotlight video below.
