Do you know everything there is to know about the history and culture of Sandwich/west Windsor and/or Delray/Southwest Detroit? Be part of your community’s history – join the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Stories Committee!

The project team is looking for passionate individuals to fill 10 volunteer positions that will help bring the two communities’ history and cultures to life. Community Stories Committee members will assist the project team with the identification and development of content for Windsor-Detroit Cross-River Tour, a unique, international Community Benefits Plan initiative that celebrates the unique culture, history and diversity of the Sandwich/west Windsor and Delray/Southwest Detroit communities through interpretive signage that will be installed on pedestrian and cycling paths leading to the Ports of Entry in Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan.

Gordie Howe International Bridge workers recognized for lifesaving actions

In November 2023, two Gordie Howe International Bridge workers rescued four members of the public from a capsized boat in the frigid waters of the Detroit River. Now, their life-saving efforts are being recognized with Fluor’s Silver Medallion of Safety.
