The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is much more than just building a bridge – it is about building partnerships.

Since 2016, WDBA has partnered with the University of Windsor’ Co-operative Education & Workplace Partnerships program to provide valuable work experience and professional development opportunities for local post-secondary students. Meet some of our most recent students and read what they had to say about their time with us.

Women working on the Gordie Howe International Bridge play a valuable role in every aspect of the day-to-day operations of the project from engineering, human resources, government relations and communications to onsite construction.  Their contributions and hard work are a crucial component to the success of this once-in-a-generation undertaking. 

Gordie Howe International Bridge workers recognized for lifesaving actions

In November 2023, two Gordie Howe International Bridge workers rescued four members of the public from a capsized boat in the frigid waters of the Detroit River. Now, their life-saving efforts are being recognized with Fluor’s Silver Medallion of Safety.
