Sandwich Business Development Program

Timing: 2020-2024

Partners: WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation, WindsorEssex Small Business Centre, Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator in partnership with Baker Tilly Live

The Sandwich Business Development Program is a five-year program that offers a suite of free business acceleration and development activities for entrepreneurs and businesses currently located or interested in business opportunities in the Sandwich/west Windsor community, as well as two business summits in 2020 and 2023. The program represents a $500,000 investment by the Community Benefits Plan.

 

Sandwich Business Development Summit 2020 - A free event for Sandwich/west Windsor business onwers and entrepreneurs to learn how to leverage opportunities through the Gordie Howe International Bridge project

The first Sandwich Business Development Summit will be held on TUESDAY, OCTOBER 27, 2020, between 9:30am and 12:00pm. The free, virtual event includes a keynote address by Simon O’Byrne with Stantec Canada, information on post-summit business supports by delivery partners, and interactive breakout sessions on key business topics including business operations during adjacent construction.

A second Sandwich Business Development Summit will occur in 2023.

Business Support Programming (2020-2024)

Following the 2020 Sandwich Business Summit, delivery partners will launch their business support programming which will continue until 2024.

  • WindsorEssex Economic Development Corporation/ WindsorEssex Small Business Centre will receive $50,000 over five years, totaling $250,000, to provide business advisory services, host business development workshops and implement a Digital Main Street program for the Sandwich Area. Further information about the programming and how to participate will be provided shortly.
     
  • The Downtown Windsor Business Accelerator in partnership with Baker Tilly Live will receive $20,000 over five years, totaling $100,000, to host workshops, provide business coaching and host events targeted to engage women-owned businesses. Further information about the programming and how to participate will be issued shortly.
