Statement – Progress continues on Gordie Howe International Bridge with the start of the property acquisition process in Delray

June 3, 2015        Windsor, Ontario

WINDSOR, ONTARIO – Michael Cautillo, President and Chief Executive Officer for the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA), issued today this statement on property acquisition discussions with Michigan residents related to the new Gordie Howe International Bridge.

“This week, our partners at the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) are meeting with Michigan residential owners and residential tenants whose properties are required for the construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project, including the U.S. port of entry.

"The meetings provide property owners with the opportunity to meet one-on-one with MDOT acquisition agents to discuss individual needs. The Gordie Howe International Bridge project team is committed to working with property owners in a fair and consistent manner.

"These discussions are an important step in the continued progress toward the construction of the new publicly owned bridge between Windsor and Detroit. More importantly, these discussions serve to provide certainty to property owners located within the identified locations of the bridge and U.S. port of entry. I am proud of the progress WDBA and our partners have made to date and the engagement with these property owners will help us achieve our goal of implementing the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.”
