Over the past 12 months, the Gordie Howe International Bridge project team has accomplished much.

We acquired the final properties needed for construction, selected the pedestrian bridge designs for the Michigan Interchange and started work on the bridge tower foundations in Canada and the US.

We added to our workforce and took steps to create a cleaner environment through an Envision rating.
We released the first funds from our Community Benefits Plan and invested in the Sandwich and Delray communities.

We partnered with our stakeholders to release extraordinary artwork and a scale model of what will be an iconic landmark for the region.
And nothing says success like winning awards - something WDBA is proud to share as part of our 2020 year in review.

Bridging the gap: Women paving the way this International Women’s Day

Women working on the Gordie Howe International Bridge play a valuable role in every aspect of the day-to-day operations of the project from engineering, human resources, government relations and communications to onsite construction.  Their contributions and hard work are a crucial component to the success of this once-in-a-generation undertaking. 

Gordie Howe International Bridge workers recognized for lifesaving actions

In November 2023, two Gordie Howe International Bridge workers rescued four members of the public from a capsized boat in the frigid waters of the Detroit River. Now, their life-saving efforts are being recognized with Fluor’s Silver Medallion of Safety.
