Detroit River Exclusion Zone

The Gordie Howe International Bridge construction project is well underway, connecting Windsor, Ontario to Detroit, Michigan.

Canadian shoreline work will soon begin, and over-water bridge deck work is anticipated for early 2023. To protect Detroit River users and project workers, a 46-metre/150-foot exclusion zone is in place along the Canadian bridge site.

The exclusion zone is in accordance with the Canadian Coast Guard Navigation Warning (NAVWARN) and Notice To Mariners ((NOTMAR) systems, and the Windsor Port Authority’s traffic control zones.

The exclusion zone is also enforced by local police and port authorities - entering the exclusion zone may result in a fine of up to $500.
