The Community Organization Investment

TIMING: 2020-2024

PARTNER: Local Community Organizations Determined Annually

The Neighbourhood Infrastructure Strategy of the Community Benefits Plan includes a commitment to provide a $100,000 (CDN) annual investment allowance for community organizations located in or serving Sandwich/west Windsor or Delray/Southwest Detroit residents for a five-year duration from 2020 – 2024. Following consultation with community partners, the project team has committed to increasing the annual investment to $200,000 (CDN) annually for the 2023 and 2024 funding cycles. Each community will receive $100,000 in funding for the remaining two years. 

Through the Community Organization Investment initiative, eligible organizations can submit applications for funding on an annual basis for proposed initiatives ranging from $1,000 to $25,000 (CDN) for events, programming and infrastructure improvements that will benefit the Sandwich/west Windsor or Delray/Southwest Detroit neighbourhoods.

Applications for the 2023 Community Organization Investment are no longer being accepted. Eligible applications submitted by the January 25, 2023, deadline will be reviewed by the Local Community Group, WDBA, BNA and MDOT.
