In honour of Earth Day 2023, project staff are attending the City of Windsor's Earth Day celebrations at Malden Park this Sunday. Stop by our table between 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., grab an activity bag for your child and learn more about the multi-use path on the Gordie Howe International Bridge.

The Windsor-Detroit Cross-River Tour is an international Community Benefits Plan initiative that celebrates the unique culture, history and diversity of the Sandwich/west Windsor and Delray/Southwest Detroit communities through interpretive signage that will be placed along pedestrian and cycling paths on the lands surrounding the Canadian and US Ports of Entry

The location of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project is deeply rooted with rich cultural history. The Underground Railroad that saw thousands escaping from slavery crossing the Detroit River to gain freedom in the community of Sandwich in Windsor, Ontario, is an integral part of that cultural history. The area remains home to descendants of those who made this journey.

Community Benefits Plan Allocates $2.3 Million in New Investments. With implementation of the Gordie Howe International Bridge Community Benefits Plan at the midway point of its five-year term, the project team has identified new investment opportunities worth $2.3 million. Eleven new projects are being added to the Plan, along with expanded funding to six existing initiatives, all of which bring further benefits to the local communities.

The Delray Home Improvement program serves residents surrounding the Gordie Howe International Bridge in Delray, Detroit. The program boundaries are now: I-75 to the North,Clark Ave/S Clark St to the East, the River Rouge to the West, and the Detroit River to the South. Repairs will be offered on a first come first served basis. Learn more and apply.
