Statement

Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) is committed to creating and maintaining a diverse workforce that emphasizes equity, inclusivity and accessibility.

WDBA, for this purpose, seeks to (i) promote and enhance an empowering, respectful and welcoming environment for those who are vulnerable and disadvantaged, and (ii) identify, remove and prevent new barriers for persons with disabilities in accordance with the Accessible Canada Act.

Principles and Objectives

WDBA's principles on diversity are rooted in our values. Consistent with the principles found in the report on "Building a Diverse and Inclusive Public Service," WDBA seeks to enhance a respectful, safe and welcoming workplace for its employees by advancing the following principles:

  • recognize that diversity, equity and inclusion are indispensable in enhancing WDBA’s capacity to innovate and provide excellent service to its employees and all who use the Gordie Howe International Bridge
  • embrace and value all our differences - our individual skills, competencies, strengths and diverse work approaches and styles - as representative of and reflecting all peoples and cultures in Canada and the US
  • promote and support respect, mutual trust, equitable treatment, non-discrimination and diverse ideas to achieve an empowering and welcoming workplace
  • engage with its employees and the public, raise awareness and provide appropriate education to support integrating Diversity, Equity, Inclusivity and Accessibility considerations into WDBA’s policies, processes and programs.
