Week of July 15, 2019
- Clearing is almost complete for phase 1. DTE should decommission the remaining poles this week. Grubbing is ongoing and will be followed by site grading. Demolition of sidewalks has started, and a temporary detention basin was built. Will begin mowing areas in phase 2 next week. Some perimeter fencing work for phase 2 will start last week of July. Assembly of site offices will be complete by mid-August.
- BNAs deep foundation subcontractor, Malcolm Drilling, successfully completed the test drilled-shaft installation and the resulting O-cell tests. During the next several weeks, Malcolm Drilling, will be preparing for the upcoming production drilled shaft work which will carry them through the end of the year. Production work includes fourteen 2m drilled shafts (three of which are bollards) and twelve 3m drilled shafts for the main tower. The preparation activities include accepting material deliveries; pre-assembling rebar cages; and finalizing site preparation that is necessary to support the production work.
As construction of the Michigan Interchange begins, Bridging North America will temporarily implement partial closures on West End Street for test holes.
The right lane and right shoulder of northbound West End Street between Fort and 500’ south of Fort Street will be closed July 13, 2019, to July 15, 2019, daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Detour routes have not been provided for access around the construction zone.
SUE (sub-surface utility exploration) work will continue through July. Utility relocation works by the WDBA continue.
In addition, preliminary construction survey works will begin next week.
