Michigan Interchange I-75 Closures

EMERGENCY DETOUR ALERT: Effective immediately, Bridging North America has implemented a new detour on Woodmere Street in response to the emergency closure of the Fort Street and Dearborn Street intersection.

  • Northbound motorists heading toward Springwells Street northbound will be detoured to Fort Street eastbound/Melville Street eastbound, south on Green Street southbound, west on Jefferson Avenue westbound, north on Dearborn Street northbound, north on Woodmere Street, east on Vernor Highway eastbound, and then Springwells Street.

West End Street - NEW

  • West End Street will remain closed between Fort Street and Melville Street until October 25, 2021.

Fort Street

  • There will be a mobile closure on Fort Street for permanent pavement markings until October 15, 2021. Only one lane on Fort Street will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
  • The right lane of westbound Fort Street will remain closed between Livernois Avenue and Dragoon Street until October 25, 2021.
  • All lanes of Fort Street between Livernois Avenue and Campbell Street may close periodically until November 10, 2021, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily as needed.
  • The right lane of eastbound Fort Street between Campbell Street and Morrell Street may close periodically until November 10, 2021, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily as needed.
  • The right lane of eastbound Fort Street at the intersection of Green Street may close periodically until November 10, 2021, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily as needed.
  • When Fort Street closes, the expected time for equipment crossings will be one to four hours.

Post Street

  • Post Street will close over a long-term period between CSX Railroad and the Delray Mechanical entrance starting at 8 a.m. on February 1, 2021.

Springwells Street

  • The Springwells Street on-ramp will remain closed at northbound I-75 until November 8, 2021.
  • The Springwells Street exit-ramp will remain closed at southbound I-75 until November 8, 2021.

I-75 Service Drive

  • Bridging North America (BNA) will temporarily implement mobile closures on northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Clark Street and Green Street until November 30, 2021, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. as needed. Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
  • BNA will temporarily implement mobile closures on northbound and southbound I-75 Service Drives between Schaefer Avenue and Michigan Avenue starting April 22 to December 3, 2021, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. as needed. Only one lane will close. Closures will be less than 30 minutes in duration during these timeframes for mobilization and demobilization of equipment activities.
  • Southbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wheelock Street and Springwells Street until November 8, 2021.
  • Northbound I-75 Service Drive will remain closed between Wheelock Street and Springwells Street until November 8, 2021.
  • The northbound I-75 Service Drive will close between Waterman Street and Dragoon Street, starting June 15, 2021, to August 1, 2022.
  • The southbound I-75 Service Drive will close between Waterman Street and Dragoon Street, starting August 10, 2021 until August 1, 2022.
  • I-75 Service Drive in both directions is closed between Clark Street and Dragoon Street until June 15, 2022.
    Junction Street will remain open to through traffic.

Long-Term I-75 Closures

As construction of the Michigan Interchange continues, Bridging North America will temporarily close several streets along the northbound I-75 Service Drive, including Livernois Avenue, Military Street and Cavalry Street, between July 17, 2020, and October 30, 2021. Several streets will close over a long-term period, including sections of Dragoon Street, Military Street, Cavalry Street, Driggs Street, Harvey Street, Reeder Street and Hussar Street on July 17, 2020.

I-75 Northbound

  • Livernois exit-ramp at Northbound I-75 will close over a long-term period, starting at 7 a.m. on June 15, 2021.
  • The left lane is closed on northbound I-75 between Harbaugh and Clark Streets until January 31, 2022.

I-75 Southbound

  • The left lane of southbound I-75 is closed between Bagley Avenue and Junction Street from April 25, 2021 to January 31, 2022.
  • The left lane of southbound I-75 is closed between Springwells Street and McKinstry Street until January 31, 2022.

Livernois Avenue

  • Southbound Livernois Avenue will remain closed between Lafayette Boulevard and southbound I-75 Service Drive until November 8, 2021.
  • The Livernois Avenue ramps to north and southbound I-75 is closed beginning March 30, 2021.
  • The Livernois Avenue entrance-ramp at southbound I-75 will close over a long-term period, starting August 10, 2021, at 7 a.m.

Clark Street

  • The Clark Street ramps to north and southbound I-75 is closed beginning March 30, 2021.

Springwells Court

  • Springwells Court northbound and southbound is closed west of the Lafarge entrance to east of the Springwells Court detour from May 15, 2021 until November 23, 2024.

Construction Activities

US Port of Entry (POE)

  • Lanzo continues sewer line cleaning on Dragoon Street
  • Wallbridge continues layout, excavation and the concrete foundation work of commercial building
  • Survey and layout work continues for the main building
  • EPS block installation continues at Harvey and Calvary Streets
  • Perimeter road excavation ongoing

US Bridge site

  • Concrete, rebar and formwork continue on north and south towers
  • Concrete, rebar and formwork continue on north and south piers
  • Temporary bent foundations are being completed
  • Work on the Corbel Falsework structure is ongoing

Michigan Interchange

  • Concrete pour continues for sidewalks on the Livernois bridge
  • Open cut excavation continues at the southbound Campbell siphon
  • Rough grading is taking place on Livernois Service Drive to northbound Fort Street and the Service Drive to southbound Lafayette
