On July 5, 2018, Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) announced the selection of Bridging North America as the Preferred Proponent to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.

Bridging North America’s design will see the Gordie Howe International Bridge project constructed as a cable-stayed bridge.

Bridging North America was selected following a rigorous evaluation of the proposals submitted by the three Proponent teams invited to participate in the Request for Proposals (RFP) stage of our public-private partnership procurement process.

Bridging North America partners have significant experience carrying out major infrastructure projects such as the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway in Windsor, Ontario; New Champlain Bridge Corridor in Montreal, Quebec; Autoroute 30 in Montreal, Quebec; Eglinton Crosstown LRT in Toronto, Ontario; Réseau Express Métropolitain (REM) in Montreal, Quebec; Automated People Mover at LAX Airport, California; Harbour Bridge and Tappan Zee Bridge in New York and San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge. This expertise will be a vital asset to the delivery of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.

WDBA and Bridging North America will now work to negotiate partnership details and finalize contractual arrangements. It is anticipated that Financial Close will be reached by the end of September.
